Dr. Trisha Schimek, MD, MSPH, DipABLM
Dr. Trisha Schimek is board certified in Family Medicine and Lifestyle Medicine. She has dedicated her early medical career to working in under-resourced settings domestically and globally. She currently works in a California county health system as a primary care physician and faculty in a Family Medicine residency. She has a passion for helping her patients prevent and reverse chronic disease and loves celebrating her patient’s success and motivating them through tough times. Beyond lifestyle medicine, she has expertise in comprehensive maternal and child health, reproductive justice, clinical procedures, medical education, provider wellbeing, and transgender health.
Professionally she did her undergraduate studies and masters of public health at Tulane University. She studied medicine at Jefferson Medical College and completed her Family Medicine residency at University of Wisconsin, Madison. She is fellowship trained in global health and worked with the Indian Health Service and Partners in Health, Mexico, while completing the UCSF Health Equity and Leadership (HEAL) Global Health Fellowship. She continues to mentor health professionals through this program.
Her interests outside of medicine include spending time with her husband and two young kids, traveling and exploring new places, searching for and creating nutritious recipes, reading, and anything that will take her outdoors: triathlons, hiking, biking and camping.
